Program Goal: To offer the marginalized Batwa people the opportunity for education, vocational training, social reintegration and to develop the beekeeping industry in Burundi

Number of Program Beneficiaries: Over 400 Batwa families as well as surrounding communities
Program Summary: The Herpetological and Environmental Association of Burundi (AHEB) was founded in 2001 in Burundi by Mr. Patrice Faye to provide economic opportunities for the Batwa people through primary education, including a nursery class, vocational training in the areas of agriculture and artisan trades (beekeeping, pottery and woodwork) and conservation of local biodiversity and traditional cultures. AHEB also assists in the protection of local biodiversity and in the rehabilitation of Burundian National Parks.
