Francis Mambu, Founder/Director Area Served: Rokel, Grafton, Bo, Bunumbu, Kenema Program Goal: Provide available and quality healthcare services to pregnant and lactating women and children under the age of five and, to provide support and supplies to single women with children to grow their own food and become food self-sufficient for their families Program Services Provided: A full range of maternal health and under five healthcare services and agriculture self-sufficiency supplies and support for women with children Number of Program Beneficiaries: Over 10,000 Current Needs: Funding for clinic construction and the purchase of medicines. Program Summary: In its efforts to improve health care in Sierra Leone, Faith Healing Development Organization (F.H.D.O.) has established clinics in the Rokel community on the outskirts of Freetown as well as in the provinces of Bo, Kenema, and Bunumbu. In agriculture, F.H.D.O. provides funding for the implementation of a small-scale women's cooperative food security program, which includes the planting and harvesting of staple vegetables and grains benefiting women and their children. The program was created to increase food production and food security and to increase self-sufficiency. F.H.D.O is also making an enormous contribution to the education sector in Sierra Leone. Its technical/vocational institute has provided skills to disadvantaged youth and operates three pre-schools and three primary schools.
With the help of Bread and Water for Africa®, F.H.D.O. is working to bring about sustainable growth and development for many people in Sierra Leone through the provision of health care facilities, agriculture, schools and vocational and technical institutions.
