phyllis-awardThis past weekend, Phyllis was awarded the Jury Chairman’s Award for Philanthropic Excellence by the East Africa Association of Grantmakers (EAAG) during the 2012 East Africa Philanthropy Awards in Entebbe Uganda! EEAG reserves this highest honor to humanitarians who spread awareness about conditions affecting poverty stricken communities and provide long lasting solutions for others to follow. Bread and Water for Africa® can think of no one more deserving of this prestigious honor than Phyllis Keino.

For over 20 years Phyllis Keino’s spirit, mission and voice have been responsible for rescuing thousands of Kenya’s impoverished children from poverty or worse fates. Anyone who looks upon the faces of the Lewa Children’s Home orphans can see how Phyllis Keino’s heroic actions have and continue to better Africa’s future leaders. Without Phyllis Keino and others like her, these defenseless children would be forced to roam the streets of Kenya for shelter and food.

Phyllis Keino we are proud that the East Africa Association of Grantmakers recognized your charitable efforts. We are honored that they believe your grassroots projects, Lewa Children’s Home, Kipkeino School and The Baraka Farm, are the standards of philanthropic excellence. Bread and Water for Africa® is honored to have played a part in your noble mission and journey. We thank you and your staff for your heroism and devotion to eradicating Kenya’s extreme poverty and hunger.
