Providing a Brighter Future

for Africa’s Children

We’ve worked with partners to provide clean water across Africa for many years. Whether it’s a school, clinic, or farm, our friends have generously supported our life-changing water projects, and 2025 is no different.

At Gena Memcha Primary School, repairing the well did more than fix a problem — it created lasting impact.

Thanks to Bread and Water for Africa®, the school now has a steady supply of clean water for cooking, drinking, and sanitation. Students no longer carry heavy jugs each day. Meals run smoothly, handwashing keeps kids healthy, and students have more time and energy to focus on learning.

This is just one example of how our Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) program supports communities across ten African countries by building and restoring wells, improving sanitation, and protecting vital water sources.
When clean water is close by, education can thrive.

If you believe in the power of clean water to change lives, please consider supporting our WASH program to help more schools like Gena Memcha.

At Gena Memcha Primary School in Ethiopia, clean water isn’t just a convenience — it’s the heart of a daily meal program that keeps children healthy and focused.

For six months, the school’s only well was broken. Without water, meals couldn’t be cooked, hands couldn’t be washed, and kitchens weren’t safe. Students had to carry heavy jugs of water every morning — five liters each — just to get their lunch. This exhausting task made lessons start late and drained their energy, making learning a real challenge.

Thanks to Bread and Water for Africa®, the well was repaired and water started flowing again. Now, students spend less time hauling water and more time learning.
This is the power of clean water — transforming lives and education.

Imagine carrying your sick child for miles, hoping help exists somewhere.

That’s what one mother in Malawi did. Her 7-year-old son was weak with fever and growing more frail by the day.

At our mobile clinic, he was tested and diagnosed with malaria — and treated immediately. Within hours, his fever began to drop.

His mother said:
“Without your coming here… I don’t know what I would have done.”

These clinics are saving lives — and your support makes it possible.

🌍✨ A Health Center Reborn – Because of YOU! ✨🌍

Just a few months ago, the Kagbaima Health Center — the only medical facility serving 10 villages in rural Sierra Leone — was falling apart. Families living on less than $1 a day had nowhere to turn for care.

But today, thanks to your compassion and generosity, the doors are open again, stronger than ever. 🙌
With just $6,000 raised by supporters of Bread and Water for Africa®, we:
✅ Replaced a crumbling thatch roof with a long-lasting zinc
✅ Rebuilt floors and walls
✅ Installed steel doors and windows
✅ Painted, furnished, and revived a clinic once forgotten

Now, 4,851 people — including over 2,500 women and children — have access to safe, dignified, and affordable healthcare. 💛
💉 Services now offered include:
• Antenatal and under-five clinics
• Adolescent and general care
• Health education for lasting impact
Even more inspiring? The community helped build it — contributing sand, timber, water, and hard work — from the very beginning.

As our partner Joseph shared:
“Funding a health program is saving the lives of many children, women, youth, and elderly here now. Health is wealth.”

📌 Next Steps:
To truly complete the transformation, we aim to build:
🚰 A clean water well
🚻 Toilet facilities
🛖 A shaded waiting hut for patients
🏠 Nurses’ housing

Let’s finish what we started — together.
👉 Join us in bringing lasting health and hope to Kagbaima!
